DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

DIGITAL XRAY:

Digital radiography is an essential part of the diagnostic plan.

It helps provide a high quality image of the bone structures we are investigating. Images are produced “on the spot” allowing us to assess them immediately.  The superior image quality and ability to manipulate these images allows diagnosis of subtle lesions which may have been overlooked in the past.

The digital x-ray unit is 100% portable allowing these images to be obtained in field.

ULTRASOUND:

Ultrasound is a quick and effective way to diagnose and monitor soft tissue injuries. Ultrasound is routinely used for tendon and ligament injury, acute assessment of abdominal or thoracic pain, joint trauma and identification of foreign bodies; and of course a key player in breeding and pregnancy monitoring.

At NEVS we also use ultrasound for guided neck facet and sacroiliac iinjections as well as intralesional injections of medication into tendon and ligament injuries.

ENDOSCOPY:

Endoscopic evaluation allows visualisation of the upper respiratory tract including the nasal passages, pharynx, larynx and trachea.  The portable nature of the fiberoptic endoscope allows for track and stall side examination immediately prior and post exercise if required.

Conditions where by an endoscopic examination may be recommended include:

  • Nasal discharge

  • Coughing – during exercise or at rest

  • Abnormal noise heard during high speed exercise

  • Abnormal facial swelling

  • Sinusitis
